Practicum II

I have just finished serving a second practicum in the newly combined school, named Jurong Primary School from 13 Feb to 13 April. A whole 2 months. Phew. It was really not an easy time. But i guess I kinda enjoyed myself with the kids.

I took two classes, one Primary 5C and one Primary 3B. Taught the primary 5s for Mathematics and Social Studies, and the P3s for English and Science. Here are some photos of the classes that I have taught before.

  1. The boys from the P5 class. See the boy on the first row (standing), on the right? He made me cry so hard in class one day, i thought i was going to suffer from a sroke. The left side of my face kept twitching non stop and i was so worried I was going to just collapse in class and die there. The irony of the whole story is: He was the one who cried when I left in April. It was a long story, maybe shall reserve that for another writing. The person to my left is Mdm Nora, my CT for this class.

2. These are the girls in class. They are a really sweet bunch of pupils, and some of them were quite sad when I left. I got along well with all of the girls, and they were no problem really. Very very sweet people. And smart too..!

3. The whole 5C class with me

This is my P3 class. They are a banded class, and most of the kids are of quite high ability. However, sometimes I think that being too smart is bad for the kids. They question me too much, and pick on my small mistakes too much. However, they are also angels (compared to the class I got last year during practicum). This photo shows the boys. According to one of my friens, this class is "smart. Don't need to tell one. Just see the face know already".. haha. I guess. They are smart. But naughty.

There is no excuse for being naughty just because one is brainy. The girls in my class are equally, if not more brainy, but they are all angels. They really are. I know that I can always count on the girls in my class to help curb the boys (at least to a minimal extent) and influence them to behave. Whenever they see me angry or upset, they will turn to the boys, and place a finger to their mouths, and ask the boys to "Shhh...Miss Lee angry already!" They are a really wonderful bunch of kids, and I really do miss them...

The whole class of 3B with me.

Well, practicum came, and went, and much as I am glad that it's over, I also kinda miss..(were you thinking the school? NO WAY!!!) the kids!

Much as I like teaching the kids, I think that the school system does not agree with me, and I think the school is too near to my house for comfort. I would not like to go back there permanent. However, I have heard news that the principal wants us back to the school.

*SIGH*.
