Introduction of Corporal Punishment in schools...

Having taught in a school for 3 weeks now, I have a thought. I seriously, seriously, seriously think that MOE should re-introduce corporal punishment in schools.

It's the only way that the kids can be taught. I still remember the days when I was in school. Although back then, the corporal punishment was already in the dying stages, it was still not banned. I still remember my English teacher spanking us on the palm with a wooden ruler for every one word that we spelt wrongly. And I remember me memorizing the words by heart...never forgetting the words. I am a serious advocate for corporal punishment. I mean, why not? SO long as the kids are not injured by the punishment, I so do not see a reason why not.

It worked then, so why not now? It doesn't even have to be a serious caning, just a spank would do the trick sometimes. In fact, it's not the spanking that works; it's the fact that students should KNOW that we have the authority to do that.

I don't know about you people out there, but I think that children in schools nowadays are incorrigible. They are acting like fucking tyrants, just because they KNOW that you are not allowed to touch them (Hell! You are not even allowed to get them to stand outside the freaking classroom, because it will "hurt" their feelings). Sheesh. What the !?@%.

I think that if they KNOW that we CAN actually hit them, the situations may not be so bad. Even though we don't carry it out. Right now, the power to carry out corporal punishment lies only in the hands of the OM and the P and VP. Mind you, this is only for severe cases.

What if you really had a fucking idiot in class who simply abuses his freaking authority in class, and disrupts your lessons, but is doing nothing "wrong", so to say? I can't stand it. This is driving me nuts.

Seriously, I have been talking to lots of teachers, and a lot of them are saying that they will leave after they have served their bond. I am one of them. Reason: not because I do not like children, but because the workload is un-copable, and also because the kids are getting harder to handle nowadays. Parents go to the school, to the principal for every freaking little matter, sometimes without even checking if their kids are lying...

Nowadays, teaching has become a PR job in handling the parents, more than teaching the students. It's getting too much for me. Nope. This is not a job that I will want to stay long in. I can't take it. Call me weak. Whatever.
