For 4 days, Patsie went Kraaaa.....zy!
2 December 2006.
Dark and early in the morning, we woke up from da's place at 5, just to be on time to check in at the airport. You see, it was the first time we were taking the budget airline, and both of us didn't know what to anticipate. However, da's brother, from past experiences, told us that we had to check in early, because seats were not allocated on the airplane, and that we had to go there early to "chop" the good seats. Although the flight was at 9.20, we were at the airport at 6. haha. I know. Talk about being early. (I thought that we could go into the transit lounge early for breakfast and also a bit of shopping to prep myself up for the trip.. haha)
There's our flight. See it? Bangkok. 3K511. Nice number.. Anyway, it was stated there that iti was supposed to be check in at lane 13 right?? Well, we were there waiting to start queueing... and in fact we were the first few there. However, if there's one thing I learnt, it's that they will change without you even knowing it. Sheesh. In the end, we were the third group of people who got to check in. Sigh. We still got our seats... haa haa..
By the time we checked in, it was already 7:30... which really didn't leave us with much time. We went into the lounge, and had breakfast... Coffee Bean's Eggs Ben.... hmm.. my favourite.. *slurp*

The view from outside my window... This was when the plane was taking off. In the midst of the clouds... it was a pretty sight.

That's in the new airport... me!
Da, checking in at the airport.
No, there was no terrorist activity. When we were there, there was a cos-play activity happening outside MBK. It was really interesting, all the things that they could dress up as. I thought the Singapore cos-play was something, until I saw the ones in Thailand. Even the parents helped the children to dress up.
Sala Daeng is the train station to Patpong, the night market, and also the place where you get all the pole dancing bars, and what not. Those bars also offer the "thai girl" show, but we were warned about going there, because it's like a "black market", and they would tell you one price, but after the show, the bouncers would tell you another price, and you could not refuse to pay, because god knows what would happen to you.
However, I was curious, and asked my tour guide if she had any "lobang", and yes, she helped us get a "good deal". We ended up watching it. But trust me, there's nothing erotic about it at all. All through the show, I was just thinking "is it going to end soon?" and "poor girls..." sheesh..
Ok. That's the view from our room... sigh. how interesting yah? Hey, it's not everyday you get to see zinc roof in Singapore.
We went on a half day tour on the second day. This is the Thai palace, in which the King does not live... haha. Very very royal.
This is the other temple which we visited. I forgot the name. It has the biggest statue of Buddha in Thailand. Really regal looking.
Oh yah. More food which we had. Da and I decided that we would not have been to tHailand if we did not have Tom Yum. And so, we just visited one of the restaurants to have Tom Yum. The one thing about the both of us was that we did not dare to eat at the road side stalls... They look really yummy, but we did not dare to even try... sigh... what a waste..
Da: How do you know that you are in Thailand?
Me: How?
Da: When you see Ronald MacDonald say "sa-wa-dee-krup"! Hahahahah...
Me: *faints*
This is the landmark of Suan Lum night market. When we arrived, it was really very very hot, and I was really in no mood to visit the Jattuchak market. Then the tour guide said that rather than going to the Jattuchak market, which is like a maze and lined with thousands of shops, she suggested we visited the Suan Lum night market. It is exactly like Jattuchak, except that it opens at night. The things there are also relatively cheaper as compared to Patpong.
And so we did. And I absolutely fell in love with it... It's pretty, cool, lots and lots, and lots, and lots of shops... In the end, we went there for two consecutive nights, and still didn't shop enough... haha.
We even had our caricatures drawn. Only cost $4! Imagine how much this caricature would have cost in SIngapore. This is the painter. Look further, the guy in stripes, he is the one drawing the caricatures, and this guy paints.
Look! My favourite Dunkin Donuts!!! Found in Bangkok. Not just a shopfront. A whole cafe!!! Muhahahah!!!
On the day that we were leaving, it was the day of celebration for the people. IIt was the King's birthday, and the people there really respected the king. It was interesting how almost every single one of them were in yellow. Yellow is the colour of royalty, and also because the King was born on a Monday, and yellow was supposedly the colour representing Monday, or so my tour guide said.. Wherever you went, the whole place was just a mumble jumble of yellow.
I guess it's something that we wouldn't see in SIngapore. The people there are so loyal, to a point where when we were in the cinema watching a movie, the Thai National anthem would just play, and everyone in the cinema would just stand at attention and pay respects to the king. Isn't it wonderful?
I don't think I remember people standing up anywhere when Majulah SIngapura is played anywhere at all... hmm... food for thought?

Well, that's me with all the luggage. We went to Thailand with two bags. Look at the amount of things that we bought... If I could, I would have bought more..
That's waiting to check in at the airport. Look at the grumpy face.
Here's da, walking towards the airplane..
That's our gate... D5.
Bye bye Bangkok. Hello Singapore. Much as I enjoyed the shopping and stuff, I was so so so dehydrated when I was in Bkk, because I didn't dare to drink the water. For the whole trip, believe it or not. The only plain water which I consumed was the 1 litre of water which I brought along. The rest were just sugared water, and lots of coke...
