Math lesson observation...

Last Thursday, on the 26th April, I had my lesson observation by my Reporting Officer, Miss Sim. As my class was learning about mass, I thought of bringing in a food lesson involving mass, so as to allow pupils to properly weigh things. The class made fruit salad. At first, I thought that my lesson was just an average lesson, but after the conferencing with my RO, she seemed to be very impressed with my lesson. She even took many photos and videos of the class in action...
At first, as usual, I was all nerves and stuff...becuase my class has hell lot of "trumpets", as I like to call them. They can't seem to understand the meaning of the word "talk". Whenever they feel like it, they will just shout at you...and I was worried. However, I guess they were engaged in the lesson, and the "threat" of not being able to play with the fruits in making the salad was too much for them to even whisper.. haha..

In the end, when Miss Sim did the conferencing with me, she gave me (for all categories), "strongly agree".. in other words, it means it turned out good lah.. haha... YIPEEE!!!! Lesson observation is over!!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my lovely mama, who volunteered to help me cut ALL The fruits to prepare for the lesson. There is really a lot of fruits... 10 red apples, 10 green apples, 2 honeydew...if not for her help, I really don't know how I would have been able to carry out this lesson smoothly...

As you can see, most of the pupils in class were very attentive. This was the part where they had to listen out for instructions before carrying out the actvity. You can see the fruits in the front of the class... This lesson really needed a lot of preparation. The whole class seating arrangement had to be changed..

The pupils in action, getting the fruits to be weighed at their own tables.

That's the "uncle" of my class (as da da calls him), Joel, together with Lucienne. Obviously enjoying themselves.

After the lesson, they got to eat their fruit salad, and they were really proud that they made the fruit salad themselves. (Haha.. it also happened to be the eat fruit day for the month...for that day, my class had 100% success.. haha).

In the video, you will be able to see some of the bright sparks at work. Unfortunately, you can also hear how loud my class can be when they are excited. All these photos and videos were taken by my reporting officer... nothing by me at all. I was too busy ensuring order in class to even remember taking photos..
